Gillian Green: Determined (cont'd)
When I was diagnosed, it was like a series of earthquakes shaking my world. Each doctors visit, each test, came back with progressively worse news. I had always had a great faith and inner strength, but it took a moment to regroup and become determined.
I was determined cancer would not take my life. I was determined cancer would not leave my son an orphan. I was determined not to be a victim, nor to have people feel sorry for me. I was determined to beat cancer and to get my life back. Every chemo, every radiation, every surgery, I put a smile on my face, determined that cancer would not change me. I am a five-year survivor of stage 3 breast cancer, determined to get the message out that early detection saves lives.
