GiniLu Robinson: Strength (cont'd)

As an 8 year! Survivor I chose the word “Strength” for a number of reasons. During my treatments and many surgeries throughout 2010 I relied HEAVILY the STRENGTH of others.  My incredible two daughters, my friends and my family.  Yes, I leaned on my own inner personal strength which was pretty intense, but it was THEIR Strength that kept me going whenever my well would temporarily run dry.  And yes – occasionally that well ran dry.  Their strength would fill my reserves and I will be eternally grateful to them all.

Picking up and moving across the country from California to Tampa (after living there for 35 years) 3 years ago to be closer to my then toddler grandson took another kind of strength.  It was incredibly hard to say good-bye to lifelong friends, and much of my family and begin to rebuild a life 3,000 miles away.  It’s still hard sometimes… however that STRENGTH that I honed and built upon during and following my Cancer Journey is what gets me up every day with Hope for the future and Gratitude for another opportunity in which to shine my own, sometimes wonky light out into the world.
