Helping Survivors Rebuild with Hope and Dignity
Since 2016, The Affirmations Project has provided $40,000 in direct assistance to women and their families across the Tampa Bay area — supporting domestic violence survivors and cancer patients with rent, medical bills, food, and other essential needs. Through our programs, we offer not only financial assistance but also compassion, encouragement, and remind them that they are not alone.

When crisis strikes, our community steps forward with compassion. These stories highlight how your generosity brings safety, stability, hope and dignity to women and families across Tampa Bay.
SNS Story — A New Beginning for the holiday
When SNS left an unsafe situation with her young son, she had nowhere to go. Thanks to our generous supporters, The Affirmations Project helped her secure safe housing where she could begin to rebuild her life. Our volunteers then organized a donation drive to help furnish her new home and “adopted” her and her son for the holidays. Together, we made sure they received not only their needs but also their wants. Today, SNS is in a safe place and smiling again — surrounded by warmth, safety, and hope for the future.
SN Story — From Storage Unit to Stability
When SN lost her job while undergoing chemotherapy, her world began to unravel. The missed workdays for treatment led to lost income, eviction, and eventually, nights spent with her children in their car — and later, a storage unit where they kept what little they had left.
When The Affirmations Project learned about Sheri’s situation, we stepped in right away. We provided temporary hotel housing so she and her children could have a safe place to stay while applying for assistance programs.
Soon after, Sheri was approved for a new apartment through a local housing program. The Affirmations Project covered her security deposit and first month’s rent, while our volunteers organized a donation drive to help furnish her new home. They also purchased groceries to restock her refrigerator and pantry — replacing what she had lost during her eviction.
Today, SN and her children are safe, thriving, and continuing their journey of healing and hope.
“You gave me more than a roof — you gave me peace. You reminded me that I wasn’t alone.”
— SN, Affirmations Project Recipient
Other programs – Adopt a Family for the Holidays
Every year, The Affirmations Project “adopts” two families — a domestic violence survivor and a cancer patient — and fulfills their holiday wish lists. Since 2016, we’ve brought joy to about 20 families, providing over $5,000 in gifts, essentials, and holiday cheer through the years. This brings joy to these local families during their most difficult times and reminds them that they are seen, supported, and loved by their community.
Hug-in-a-Box Care Packages
Our Hug-in-a-Box program delivers care packages (valued at about $60 each) to women navigating cancer treatment or recovering from domestic violence.
Each box includes self-care items, affirmations, and personal touches that remind recipients they are seen and loved.
To date, we’ve delivered many care packages across the Tampa Bay area and beyond.
Every box is hand-assembled by volunteers and funded entirely through your community donations
