Since 2016, The Affirmations Project has stood beside women and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Through direct financial assistance, community-driven programs, and compassionate support, we help survivors of domestic violence and women facing cancer regain stability, dignity, and hope.
Over the past nine years, we have provided more than $40,000 in direct assistance to women and families across the Tampa Bay area, covering critical needs such as housing, medical expenses, food, transportation, and emergency support. But our impact extends far beyond dollars; it lives in the moments when someone feels safe again, seen again, and no longer alone.

Housing Stability
Safe housing is often the first step toward healing. We help survivors with the funds to
secure stable housing by covering:
Rent and security deposits
Temporary hotel stays during emergencies
Utility assistance to prevent shutoffs

When families are rebuilding, everyday expenses can feel overwhelming. We assist with:

For women navigating cancer treatment or recovery from trauma, access to care is critical. Our support includes:

Each year, we honor resilience and courage through our Gala Recipient & Grant Program, providing financial support to women whose stories inspire our community.

STORIES OF HOPE
A NEW BEGINNING FOR SNS
When SNS fled an unsafe situation with her young son, she had nowhere to go. With the help of our supporters, The Affirmations Project assisted her in securing safe housing where she could begin again. Our volunteers then organized a donation drive to furnish her home and “adopted” her family for the holidays, ensuring they received not only what they needed, but also what they wished for.
Today, SNS and her son are safe, housed, and surrounded by hope.
FROM A STORAGE UNIT TO STABILITY
– SN’S STORY
When SN lost her job during chemotherapy, missed workdays quickly turned into lost income, eviction, and nights spent living in her car with her children, eventually moving into a storage unit to shelter what little they had left.
When we learned of her situation, we acted immediately. We provided temporary hotel housing while she applied for assistance programs. Soon after, she was approved for a new apartment through a local housing initiative. The Affirmations Project covered her security deposit and first month’s rent, while volunteers furnished her home and restocked her kitchen.
Today, SN and her children are safe, thriving, and continuing their journey of healing.

COMMUNITY PROGRAMS THAT CREATE JOY & COMFORT
Adopt-A-Family for the Holidays
Each holiday season, The Affirmations Project adopts two families—one domestic violence survivor and one cancer patient and fulfills their holiday wish lists.
Since 2016:

This program reminds families facing hardship that they are seen, valued, and loved by their community.
HUG-IN-A-BOX CARE PACKAGES
Our Hug-in-a-Box program delivers thoughtfully curated care packages to women navigating cancer treatment or recovering from domestic violence.
Each box (valued at approximately $60) includes:
Self-care items
Encouraging affirmations
Personal touches assembled by volunteers
To date, we’ve delivered numerous care packages across Tampa Bay and beyond, each one funded entirely through community donations.
EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS
The Affirmations Project is a 100% volunteer-run organization. Our board members and volunteers are not paid. Aside from minimal operational expenses required to run the nonprofit—such as website hosting, domain fees, and basic administrative costs, all remaining funds are used directly to support our programs and the women and families we serve. Your generosity goes where it matters most: directly to survivors.
